I graduated high school in 2008. After I graduated I spent the following year working in a youth ministry at a couple of churches with the youth and playing in the church band. I also started coaching ultimate Frisbee at Cardinal Gibbons high school. The following year I started working at East Cary Middle school as a teacher's assistant. I also volunteered as the assistant basketball coach at East Card for 3 years and lead the team for half a season while waiting for a new head coach. I worked at the middle school for four years until I was motivated to go back to school by a couple of mentors. Between December of 2013 and July of 2014, while working, I began studying mathematics and preparing to take the GED exam. And in the fall of 2014, I began my studies at Wake Technical Community College. I stayed at Wake Tech for 3 years and learned a lot more programming and math skills. Afterwards I transferred to Shaw university to finish my schooling. I have been around computers from a young age. My father was a computer engineer and encouraged my use of computers. Since I was a child I have wanted to have a career involving computers, and I have been interested in programming languages since I was about twelve. I want to pursue a degree in computer science so that I can continue to learn more about programming. I hope to be able to use programming in a way that can give me the skills to earn a living programming and to impact and teach people how to use technology. I also want to use the skills I learn to introduce and teach youths how to code and open up new ideas and horizons for them.
Put simply I'm learning. Every day I'm finding a new concept or area in computer science that I don't know and learn about it. In August of 2017 I started learning HTML, CSS and Deep Learning. I am also delving deeper into Java, my most proficent language, Javascript, and Python. Starting in October I have been learning the basics of Ruby and PHP and plan to learn more about the fundamentals of other tools used for web development. Everyday I plan to learn new things and add those things to my skill set. All my past and current work can be found on my GitHub.
I am in the process of obtaining my BS from Shaw University. I currently have a 4.0 GPA
The internet is where I have learned 90% of what I know. Youtube, Udemy, Codeacademy, Freecodecamp, StackOverflow, W3Schools, and many other resources have been invaluable in teaching me how to code
Coded custom backend for wireless sensor using JavaScript, MySQL, Node.js and Express.
Created a dashboard in HTML and CSS with visual graphs using JavaScript and Chart.js.
Made a simple application using Android Studio and Java to help a student communicate.
Provided one on one services to a child with special needs
Helped develop lesson plans, did behavior analysis, and helped teach in an AU classrom
